Artifact Overview

Produced from 1906 to 1908, Ford Motor Company's Model N appealed to middle-class Americans looking to buy their first automobile. While most two-seat runabouts at the time used one- or two-cylinder engines and chain drives, the Model N boasted four cylinders and a shaft drive. At $500, it was a bestseller. Ford built about 7,000 units.
